Delhi Police have nabbed an 18-year-old psychology student from Madhya Pradesh for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing them Remdesivir injections prescribed for treatment of Coronavirus patients in the national Capital. Police said that the woman had cheated over 11 people from the national Capital region of over ` 2 lakh on the pretext of delivering them injections. She is a resident of Seoni in Madhya Pradesh is pursuing her first year in Psychology from an open university here in Delhi.
According to Atul Kumar Thakur, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South district, on May 1, a case was registered at Defence Colony police station in south Delhi on the complaint of Ankit Kumar who was also duped by the woman.
“In his complaint, Kumar alleged he was in urgent need of Remdesivir injection for his relative and got in touch with a person after getting the contact number online. When contacted, he was promised delivery of five injections for `32,400.
After transferring the demanded amount via online transaction facility, the alleged person stopped responding and the injections were never delivered,” said the DCP.
“During investigation, the alleged bank account details were collected, technical details were obtained and on Monday, a team was sent to Seoni district in MP for tracing the accused person. With the help of technical surveillance, the team managed to trace the location and arrested the accused from her house in Seoni area,” said the DCP.
