Punjab Government’s all departments have been asked to initiate necessary measures to address the major environmental issues in the State, besides controlling the water and air pollution along with ensuring proper solid and plastic waste management.
The Government has also decided that the ‘single-use plastic’ would be eliminated and the Deputy Commissioner and the Municipal Commissioners would make every effort for its elimination.
The directions were issued by the state Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan on Tuesday while chairing a high-level meeting to review the progress of the action plan to control the stubble burning under the environment plan in the State.
Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to make the state clean, green, and pollution-free under the Mission Tandrust Punjab, Mahajan said that it was even more important in the prevailing pandemic situation that all the departments must take care of the environment related issues in the state.
