Taking strong notice of trend of unauthorized deployment of gunmen on duty from police battalions or police stations, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Tuesday directed all Zonal Inspector Generals of Police (IGs) and Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) to conduct personal audit in this regard and submit report by November 25.
Similarly, taking strong note of police officers and personnel going out of their jurisdiction sans approval, Randhawa also declared that no police officer and employee would leave their area of jurisdiction without permission from supervising officer. The violation of this order would attract strict disciplinary action, Deputy Chief Minister made it clear. Describing it as a serious matter, the Deputy Chief Minister said that similarly, the police officers or personnel leave their jurisdictional zones which would not be tolerated as police is a disciplined force leaving such indiscipline simply intolerable. The Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Anurag Verma has issued written directions with regard to serious note taken by Deputy Chief Minister on both matters.
The ACS has written a communication to all IGs or DIGs regarding unauthorized deploying of gunmen from police stations or battalions and directed them to conduct a manpower audit of minimum two police stations from amongst area under their jurisdiction and submit report by November 25 after perusing HRMS record.
