Punjab education department has released an amount of Rs. 4 crore to convert government schools into smart schools, a spokesperson of the education department said on Tuesday, adding that under the ‘Smart School Campaign’ the schools are being revamped and state-of-the-art technology is being provided to the government schools to make them smart.
The spokesperson said a letter has been issued in this regard by the Director General of School Education-cum-SPD to all the District Education Officers. Accordingly 738 government schools would be converted into smart schools. Under this grant, Rs. 15,000 per school has been released to government primary and middle schools for beautification of gates, Rs. 25,000 per school for color coding and Rs. 10,000 per school for education parks. Similarly 18,000 per school for beautification of gate of government high and senior secondary schools, Rs 50,000 per school for color coding of high schools and Rs. 75,000 per school for senior secondary schools and Rs. 20,000 per school for high and senior secondary schools for education parks.
