Punjab Govt extends limit for a month for fixation of High Security Registration Plates

Saturday, 13 March 2021 | PNS | Chandigarh

Giving the “final opportunity” to all vehicle owners to get the high security registration plates (HSRP) affixed, the Punjab Government on Friday once again extended the last date to April 15. “This will be the final opportunity for all the vehicle owners to get HSRP affixed by April 15 after which concerned authorities would start issuing challans of vehicles without High Security Registration Plates,” said the Transport Minister Razia Sultana.

The Minister said that the State Government has extended the time limit repeatedly for all the vehicle owners of the state to get the HSRP affixed on their vehicles.

During the last eight months, around 13 lakh more vehicles have been fitted with HSRP, still many owners have not come forward to get them affixed.

“Presently, there are 102 HSRP fitment centers in the State with an online system of pre-booking an appointment as per one’s convenience and payment of the fees has been activated on the website www.Punjabhsrp.in, in addition to a mobile application HSRP PUNJAB. Persons can also call on helpline No 7888498859 and 7888498853 to fix fitment date,” informed the Minister.

She added a unique facility of fitment at home is also available, which is optional whereby vehicle owners can avail the facility by paying a facilitation charge of Rs 100 for two and three wheeler and Rs 150 for four wheelers and above.

The State Transport Commissioner Dr Amarpal Singh said that the benefit of HSRP, which helps track lost or stolen vehicles, has further improved as now it is not possible to print vehicle’s registration certificate (RC) if HSRP has not been affixed.

The HSRP fitment data is now directly linked to VAHAN application of NIC (National Informatics Centre) to prevent printing of fraud or illegal RCs, he said while appealing that those who have not affixed HSRP on vehicles should get them fitted on time to avoid challans.

Notably, it is mandatory for all vehicles in India to be affixed with High Security Registration Plates.
