Punjab records 11 more Covid-19 deaths, 595 fresh cases

With 595 fresh Covid-19 cases in Punjab, the infection tally in the State rose to 1,81,597 on Saturday, while 11 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 5,825, a medical bulletin said.

SBS Nagar saw a maximum 75 fresh Covid-19 cases, Jalandhar 70, Patiala 69, Ludhiana 62, among others.  A total of 368 coronavirus patients were discharged after recovering from infection, taking the number of cured persons to 1,710336, the bulletin said.

There are 14 critical patients who are on ventilator support, while 79 are on oxygen support, it said.  Over 29,023 samples were collected for Covid-19 testing on Saturday. So far, 49,82,773 samples have been tested for coronavirus in the state, the bulletin added.

 

60 NEW CASES IN CHANDIGARH

Chandigarh on Saturday reported 60 more coronavirus cases, taking the Union Territory's infection count to 21,719, according to a medical bulletin.  No Covid-19 related death was reported on Saturday and the toll stood at 351, as per the bulletin. There are 357 active cases in the UT now, as per the bulletin.

A total of 25 patients were discharged after they recovered from the infection, taking the number of recoveries to 21,011, the bulletin said.  A total of 2,53,339 samples have been taken for testing so far and of them, 2,30,669 tested negative while reports of 78 samples were awaited, according to the bulletin.
