Punjab reports 69 deaths, 2,963 positive cases

Continuing the trend of reporting high numbers of fresh cases of the novel Coronavirus along with related deaths, Punjab on Sunday registered 2,963 positive cases adding to the state’s COVID-19 tally, which has reached 2,31,734. Besides, 69 more patients succumbed to the deadly virus in the past 24 hours, pushing the state’s death toll to 6,690.

Ten of the Sunday’s total deaths were reported from Ludhiana; followed by eight each from Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar; six from Gurdaspur; four each from Amritsar, Bathinda, Kapurthala, and Mohali; three each from Fazilka, Ropar, Tarn Taran, and Nawanshahr; two each from Ferozepur, Patiala, and Sangrur; and one each from Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Moga.

Among the fresh infections, maximum 489 were reported from Jalandhar, followed by Ludhiana with 437, Amritsar 372, Patiala 307, SAS Nagar (Mohali) 291, Hoshiarpur 289, Bathinda 140, Ropar 108, among others.

The number of recoveries in the state have surpassed the two-lakh-mark after 2,155 COVID-19 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the deadly contagion. The total number of recoveries has reached 2,01,127 at the recovery rate of 86.79 percent.

Among new recoveries, Ludhiana reported 350, Jalandhar 216, Patiala 184, SAS Nagar 210, Amritsar 120, Gurdaspur 132, Bathinda 96, Hoshiarpur 251, Pathankot 27, Sangrur 39, Kapurthala 151, Faridkot 31, Muktsar 20, Fazilka 26, Moga 29, Ropar 69, Fatehgarh Sahib 48, Barnala 6, Tarn Taran 4, SBS Nagar 113, and Mansa 33.
