Fifty-eight more people died from coronavirus in Punjab on Saturday as the State reported its 3294 cases, pushing its infection count to 2,69,733, according to a medical bulletin. The State had reported its highest daily spike of 3,459 cases on April 9 while 3187 infections on April 1. So far, the disease has killed 7448 people in the State.
The number of active cases rose to 28015 on Saturday. Mohali reported the maximum 413 cases, followed by 407 in Jalandhar, 389 in Ludhiana, 306 in Amritsar and 282 in Patiala.
10 more people died in Jalandhar, seven in Gurdaspur, six each in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, five in Amritsar, four each in Patiala and Ropar and two each in Pathankot, Tarn Taran, SAS Nagar, Bathinda.
A total of 2385 coronavirus patients were discharged after recovering from the infection, taking the number of cured people to 2,34, 270, the bulletin said. There are 35 critical patients who are on ventilator while 371 are on oxygen support, the bulletin said. A total of 63,08,652 samples have been collected for testing so far in the State.
