Punjab reports ten deaths, 214 fresh Covid cases

Ten more people succumbed to the Covid-19 in Punjab as 214 fresh positive cases surfaced on Thursday.

The death toll stood at 5473 while the state’s infection count reached 169950, the state’s health bulletin stated.

The mortality rate stood at 3.22 percent in the state.

Of the total ten deaths, two were reported in SAS Nagar and one death each was reported in Barnala, Bathinda, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, SBS Nagar and Tarn Taran.

 Among the fresh cases, the highest 43 were reported from SAS Nagar (Mohali) followed by 34 in Jalandhar. 22 cases each were reported in Ludhiana and in Amritsar, as per the bulletin,In the last 24 hours, a total of 253 patients were discharged after recovering from infection, taking the number of cured persons to 161710 in the state.

 The state still has 2767 active COVID-19 cases. Of them, 9 critical patients are on ventilator support, while 99 are on oxygen support, the bulletin added.

 

6 DEATHS, 187 CASES IN HARYANA

Haryana on Thursday witnessed six more coronavirus deaths, taking the toll to 2972 even as 187 fresh cases pushed the State’s infection tally to 2,65,803, a health bulletin showed.According to the state health department’s daily bulletin, the fatalities were one each from Faridabad, Karnal, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar and Jhajjar districts.Among other districts to report new cases included Gurugram (34), Faridabad (34) and Karnal (19).

The number of active cases in the state were 2266 while as many as 2,60,562 people have so far been discharged after recovering from infection. The recovery rate was 98.03 percent.

1 DEATH, 23 CASES IN CHANDIGARH

The union territory of Chandigarh on Thursday reported one more COVID-19 related death as 23 fresh cases were detected.

 “With this, the total case tally reached 20438 and the death toll stood at 330 in the city,” as per the Chandigarh Health Department’s evening bulletin.

A 67 years old COVID positive male resident of Sector 35, a case of SARI and Hypertension, expired at GMCH-32.

As per the bulletin, there were 273 active cases till the evening.  41 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours pushing the total number of recoveries to 19835.  Among 36 fresh cases, 15 were males and 8 were females.

1.97 lakh samples have so far been tested in the city. A total of 1003 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours and the report of 81 was awaited, the bulletin added.
