nAmid Corona protocol, the Rajim Maghi Punni Mela, at the confluence of three rivers in Rajim town in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district, will start from February 27 and will end on March 11.
Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant will inaugurate the fair while Home and Religious Endowment Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu will preside over the inaugural day's function, a press release said.
Panchayat and Rural Development Minister T.S. Singh Deo, School Education Minister Dr. Premasai Singh Tekam, Commerce and Industry Minister Kawasi Lakhma, Culture Minister Amarjeet Bhagat, Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, Lok Sabha MPs Chunnilal Sahu and Sunil Soni, Parliamentary Secretaries Vikas Upadhyay, Chintamani Maharaj and Kunwar Singh Nishad, and MLAs Dhanendra Sahu, Amitesh Shukla, Damrudhar Pujari, Ajay Chandrakar and Lakshmi Dhruv will be special invitees on this event, it said.
Rajim is known as the Prayag of Chhattisgarh as it is located at the confluence of three rivers: Mahanadi, Pairi and Sondhur.
A huge religious fair is organized every year from Magh Purnima to Shivaratri. Also, Lord Vishnu is seated in the famous Rajiv Lochan Temple at Rajim town.
Meanwhile, Sahu on Friday visited the fair venue at Rajim to take note of the preparations.
No official events will be held during the fair in view of Covid-19.
