Recipients claim vaccine safe after getting doses

Mariyam Guriya, working as sanitation worker at Sadar hospital for past 13-year was scared when she was informed by health department on Friday afternoon that she will be the first person in State who will be administered first dose of corona vaccine.  But on Saturday morning after getting the vaccine she had different feelings.

Sharing her experience, Guriya said, “I feel proud to be the first recipient of the corona vaccine in the State. There were lots of doubts and fears about the vaccine, but after the immunization I feel different. I have no problem after getting the vaccine. I am normal. The vaccine is safe, everyone should remove doubts about vaccine as this is the way through which we can win the battle against the corona pandemic.”

Mariyam along with 72 other beneficiaries were administered the corona vaccine in Sadar hospital on Saturday—the day on which Country launched the world's biggest immunization drive. The main function was held at Sadar hospital where Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Health Minister Banna Gupta and senior government officials participated at the function.

The Chief Minister addressing the gathering after launching the immunization programme at Sadar hospital said, “The day is very big for the entire Country as today we launched the biggest immunization drive. Our fight against corona pandemic is much better than other states as despite limited resources we have performed much better than other states in

testing.”“Jharkhand is carrying out more corona tests than many other states. In immunization drive too we are confident that we will perform better than many states,” added Soren.

The main venue, Sadar hospital was decorated. The district administration had installed CCTV cameras and a large number of police personnel was deployed at the venue.  Dr Vijay Mishra, medical director of Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Superspecialty Hospital who was the first medical practitioner to get Covid vaccine sharing his experience said, “The vaccine is safe as after immunization I am not having any complications. I request everyone to clear their doubts as the vaccine is safe. My entire family is excited about the vaccination drive.”

Meanwhile, the Covid 19 vaccination drive was held at two places in the State Capital—Ranchi Sadar hospital and Namkum Community Health Center, where health workers were vaccinated. Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS) Convocation Ceremony
