Recovery rate rises to 88.54%

At a time when the district health officials have brought momentum into vaccination drive against Covid-19, the number of cases is continuing to reduce. The city registered more recoveries than fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

In 208 new cases were detected and 521 people recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, according to the health bulletin. The recovery rate has climbed to 88.54 % while the active cases have come down to 4,589.

A day after 297 positive cases were reported, Jamshedpur recorded 208 positive cases while 521 people recovered of the virus on Sunday pushing the recovery mark to 40,955 while the active cases have come below 4,600 mark.

Deaths due to the virus continue to be a sign of worry as 7 people succumbed due to Covid on Sunday, May 16, East Singhbhum Covid bulletin said.

The health department has issued instructions to deputy commissioners of all four districts for effective execution of the testing drive. Guidelines for the effective use of the testing resources and other protocols have also been provided.

Officials said they could conduct tests on the spot at checkpoints. The results of these tests will be available in around 10 minutes. Only those found negative will be allowed to enter the city.

To conduct these tests, health care professionals will also be deployed at the checkpoints, along with police officials.

The district administration has taken proactively measures to deal with such a scenario. Though the cases are coming down , the administration has come up with new checkpoints to keep entering the city.

These check posts have come up at entry points like Dobo-Kanderbera road that links to the steel city through Domuhani Bridge, Adityapur Bridge on river Kharkai to name a few.

SDO Nitish Kumar Singh said that the district administration has come up with a strategy to deal with any extreme situation.

“We have come up with 10 fresh checkpoints. People returning to the city or those visiting will have to undergo mandatory Antigen tests. The administration has deployed its team at Tatanagar railway station and bus stands,” informed the SDO.
