The RPF in Palamu - Garhwa region has stepped up its drive against contraband narcotic marijuana which sees a spurt during the onset of the holy month, Sawan.
Sources said the consumption of the marijuana picks up as users see it as an essential ritual during this Sawan month.
Sources said the senior commandant of the RPF Dhanbad Hemant Kumar has directed his officials to go for a massive checking in the trains to smoke out narcotic or liquor brought shipped surreptitiously.
A task force has been set up in the entire stretch of the Dhanbad division of the railways under order of the senior commandant of the RPF Dhanbad Hemant Kumar.
SIPF-cum-incharge RPF Garhwa Road railway station Kumar Nayan Singh said a team of 5 personnel led by assistant sub inspector of police Fabian Kullu recovered 36 kgs of marijuana kept unclaimed in the gallery of the toilet of a general coach of the Sambalpur Maruadih express train last night.
