Two days after a farmer was shot dead for filing a complaint against his daughter's sexual harassment, the police, on Wednesday, announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on the main accused, Gaurav Songra, hailing from Nojalpur village in Sasni area.
According to the police, rewards of Rs 25,000 each have also been announced on the other two accused. So far, one accused has been arrested in the case. Four teams have been formed to track down the whereabouts of other killers and arrest them.
Last Monday, a farmer who was getting some work done on his field, was shot dead in broad daylight. The farmer had lodged a report about two-and-half-year back that Gaurav had entered his house and eve-teased his daughter.
The accused had allegedly been exerting pressure on the farmer to marry his younger daughter with him and withdraw the case.
The deceased's daughter has furnished a written complaint against six people, including four identified persons, based on which the police registered a case and arrested one accused. Search is underway for the other accused.
The anguished family of the farmer had, on Tuesday, refused to perform the farmer's last rites until the accused were arrested. The officials somehow pacified them after which they agreed.
The chief minister has ordered action under the NSA against all the accused.
