The R Udayagiri police on the instructions of Gajapati SP Jayaram Satpathy conducted a raid and seized nine quintals of ganja on Tuesday. They also arrested a person in this connection though three others managed to escape from the spot. The arrested youth was identified as Sonu Paswan of Rohtas district in Bihar.Getting information, a police conducted the raid in a dense forest between Pateiguda and Anuguru villages and recovered the contraband packed in 24 gunny bags. The contraband was to be trafficked to Bihar.
The market value of the seized contraband is more than Rs 50 lakh. The SP said the drive against contraband trading would be further intensified in the district.
