Saroni wins TAFE NSW Contribution to Community Award

Actor and peace ambassador Saroni Roy received the TAFE NSW Contribution to the Community Award 2021.The award ceremony was held on a virtual platform due to the NSW Covid-19 restrictions. TAFE NSW is the leading provider for education and training courses in Australia. The Jamshedpur-born actor was recognised for her extensive list of social welfare initiatives, supporting vulnerable and less privileged communities during the pandemic.

“A world-class education is the biggest privilege I had growing up, and I'm truly honoured to receive this prestigious award. Education is the most profound power one can have. Thank you TAFE Digital and TAFE NSW team and each of you for supporting me in my global community-welfare initiatives, wouldn't have been possible without you,” said Saroni.

Saroni has been contributing to the local community for a number of years. She has conceptualized and hosted an extensive list of multicultural community-cohesion programs and events, including multiple peace initiatives for the commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th Birth Anniversary, that have brought together active participation from the Indigenous and International communities. Her food donation drive for Addison Road Community Organisation provided food to 100,000 under-privileged Australians and rescued 100 tonnes of food from going to the landfill.

Saroni has incessantly worked towards her vision and goal of creating a more peaceful and inclusive ‘one world’ to live and love and in 2020 the beginning of a new decade she has christened her ‘Diversity, Sustainability and Social Justice’ initiatives with the Saroni Roy Foundation (SRf) and SRfCreatists, social enterprises perpetuating socio-economic and environmental well-being.

Saroni has been contributing profoundly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs) No. 4, 5, 8, 10, 16, 17, for a number of years and has received several awards and accolades for her extensive list of multicultural community-cohesion programs and events that have brought together active participation from the Indigenous and International communities.

As Ms India Australia Goodwill Ambassador, Saroni has worked continually to strengthen bi-lateral relations between India and Australia and is also a community leader building multilateral relations, spreading peace through hosting an extensive list of Multicultural Art & Community cohesion initiatives ensconced in Diversity, Sustainability and Social Justice, aligned with the Gandhian values.

This year SRf Creatists supported by Saroni Roy foundation is hosting the inaugural Ahimsa Peace Symposium 2021 on 2nd October 2021, in partnership with Strathfield Rotary Club – Rotary International. This is to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s 152nd Birth Anniversary also observed as the UN International Day of Non-Violence on 2nd October 2021.Adapting to the NSW Covid-19 restrictions, the Ahimsa Peace Symposium 2021 is a live virtual event.
