SDMC Mayor opens vaccination centre at Jaitpur for 18+

Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta and South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) Mayor Anamika on Monday inaugurated a vaccination centre for people aged between 18 and 44 years at a school run by the civic body at Jaitpur.

With this, SDMC started vaccination under the third phase at its 11 schools located in all four zones. On the occasion, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Delhi BJP vice-president Ashok Goyal, former president of South Delhi District Mithlesh Singh and senior officials from Health Department were present. 

Additional Commissioner (Health) Randhir Sahay along with senior officials of Health Department took stock of necessary arrangements at these centres ahead of starting of vaccination process.

Three vaccination centres from Central Zone,  two  from South Zone, four from Najafgarh Zone and two vaccination centres from West Zone have been allowed for the third phase of vaccination. Adesh Gupta said that the third phase of vaccination is a important initiative under which people above18 years of age are getting Covid vaccination. He said that the third phase of vaccination is very important as its covers the youth of the country. The new facility at SDMC Schools will help a large numbers of youths in getting vaccinated without any hassles. He said that the need of the hour was to speed up the process by allowing vaccination at all MCD Schools.

Gupta praised the efforts of the SDMC for getting the go ahead for third phase of vaccination from the Delhi Government by raising the demand before the Lieutenant Governor.

Mayor Anamika said that approval to open five sites at each school had been given under the third phase. She said that if adequate supply of vaccine was made by the Delhi Government then each of the 11 centres could give 750 doses every day and more than 8,250 people can be vaccinated at these centres daily. She informed that on the first day of the third phase of the vaccination drive, 130 people, between age of 18 and 44 years, took their first dose at the centre.
