In order to facilitate taxpayers in filing their property tax returns on time, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to open its offices on every Saturday and Sunday this month.
Chairman of Standing Committee in SDMC Colonel B K Oberoi said that since rebate of 15 per cent can be availed till July 31, 2021, all the zonal offices including headquarters of the property tax department will remain open for the taxpayers during this period.
Oberoi appealed to people to file their ‘property tax returns’ (PTR) before July 31 to avail the benefit of rebate. He said that an additional three percent rebate is also being given to the taxpayers of residential properties who have completed both the doses of vaccine for Covid-19.
The chairman further said that this time the SDMC has been accepting the online system of PTR only.
To assist the property taxpayers, property tax camps are being organised with the help of ‘Common Service Centre’ (CSC) in all four zones, he said, adding that the online facility to file PTR is available at 1,441 CSCs in the SDMC area.
A senior SDMC official said that the assessment and collection department of SDMC has received a total of Rs 420 Crore of property tax till date from 2.60 lakh properties during the current financial year while Rs 943 Crore collected from 4.11 lakh properties in the last financial year.
