South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has set up as many as 58 Covid-19 vaccine centres where vaccination is being done successfully, Standing Committee Chairman Rajdutt Gahlot said on Tuesday.
Presenting revised budget estimate for the year 2020-21 and budget estimate for the year 2021-22, Gahlot said that the property tax department generated a revenue of Rs 610.23 Crore from 3,83,395 properties in year while in 2020-21, till 25-10-2020, the department has collected Rs 620.15 Crore from 3,85,668 properties which is 1.63 percent more.
In order to ensure online payment of property tax from FY 2021-22, the SDMC has developed a new website.
Gahlot further said that during Covid-19 period, the SDMC lifted nearly 3,200 metric tonne garbage from isolation/quarantine centres and from homes where Corona cases were found. Besides this, 2,89,086 kgs bio-medical waste was also disposed of from containment zones.
The Standing Committee Chairman turned down the proposal to hike property tax in residential, commercial and non-residential properties (less than 150 sqm in area). He also rejected the proposals to fix property tax of Category A and B residential properties to 14 per cent of their annual value and C to H residential properties to 12 per cent of their annual value.
The civic body will take penal action if Delhi Jal Board (DJB) fails to repair or restore SDMC roars/streets after cutting and digging for sewer and water related works.
The Corporation is also making provision to collect restoration charges for carrying work by the DJB but not restoring/repairing the same.
