Following repeated cases of negligence and mismanagement, the superintendent and principal of the MGM Medical College Hospital and Medical College were replaced on Monday.

An official of the health department said the number of medical laxity cases was reported during his stint prompting the hospital to find a replacement. The hospital was in the news due to bad reasons.

"I have been asked to take over as the superintendent. I know running this medical college hospital with limited resources is a tough job. I am ready to face challenges and promise to bring better changes in the overall performance of the hospital soon,Rs Rs  Dr Arun told the reporters.

Dr Arun, working in the ENT department of the hospital, said his focus will be on the cleanliness and security of the patients. He will ensure better utilization of funds. At the same time he would try to ensure that no instance of medical negligence may come to his notice.

The new superintendent, when asked, said that the hospital has received adequate funds for the treatment of Covid-19 and informed that he would gear up preparation for combating the third wave of the ongoing pandemic.

“We are preparing for the third wave, we need more oxygen and ventilator beds with a larger workforce. We need to streamline our protocols to make things comfortable and beneficial for the patients. Communication between the hospital and patients’ families/relatives is important.  Multiple initiatives were undertaken to communicate about patient well-being,” he noted.

He said that as part of the precautions for the next wave it is important to get your family and friends vaccinated. The more people get vaccinated the less the chance of pandemic hitting us as hard as it did this time. It is important to wear a proper mask to protect yourself. Follow all COVID-19 protocols.
