Sisodia reviews Covid care, oxygen supply at hospital

Wednesday, 05 May 2021 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday visited the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri to review Covid-19 situation and oxygen supply at the hospital.

Sisodia also met with patients in the covid ward at the hospital.

“Our Covid-19 facility at the Commonwealth Games Centre is fully functional and has been catering to Covid-positive patients. This facility was developed based on the orders given by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and with the help of the District Magistrate and our doctors.

“The bed capacity at CWG facility  is 500 but we are unable to meet the capacity due to shortage of oxygen. Soon after, we took swift action and installed an oxygen plant in this facility to ensure unabated access of allocated oxygen to patients. The oxygen plant is now operational and the current occupancy of patients at CWG is 175. We are hoping and waiting for the oxygen supply to increase in Delhi so that all 500 beds at the centre can be occupied,” he added.

The hospital recently installed an oxygen plant imported from France which will help refill at least 80-100 big cylinders daily. This plant will ensure a sustained supply of oxygen for all oxygenated and ICU beds. At present, the hospital has 300 beds in its premises of which 118 beds have been allocated to Covid-19 patients. The deputy CM further said, “To augment the number of ICU and oxygen beds in Delhi, CM Arvind Kejriwal had decided to convert Ramlila Ground into a Covid Care Centre. Health Minister Satyendra Jain and I visited the Ramlila Ground to take stock of the 500 ICU beds that are being set-up there. I am happy to note that this work is in full swing and we hope it will be ready for citizens within the next week.”

“I take great pride in our doctors, who are tirelessly and relentlessly working towards saving the lives of citizens and emerging as true warriors in our fight against this deadly virus. Delhi Government’s commitment to defeat COVID-19 sees no bounds and we are doing everything in our capacity to reduce this surge. I appeal to our citizens to follow lockdown protocols and get vaccinated as soon as possible. Let us together win this fight against COVID-19,” he said.
