Soren inaugurates PSA plant

Saturday, 15 May 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday inaugurated a newly commissioned oxygen plant at Sadar hospital of Sahebganj district. The plant based on Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) technology will cater to the need of oxygen for the patients suffering from Covid 19.

Sahebganj Sadar hospital has a total of 50 beds with oxygen support. But, with the PSA plant the hospital can supply oxygen to other districts and hospitals on the demand basis.  The PSA plant can generate 5000 litres of oxygen per hour.

The Chief minister, who inaugurated the plant through video conferencing, said that the government and people of Jharkhand are determined to fight against Covid -19.

The CM said that his government is committed to the improvement of health infrastructure as well as treatment of Covid 19 patients. He informed that the vaccination drive for people aged between 18 and 44 years too has been started from Friday adding that initially across Jharkhand 496 vaccination centres have been set-up for this purpose. So far, all 24 districts have been allotted 179800 vials of the vaccine.

In Sahebganj three vaccination centres have been notified. Sahebganj has a RTPCR lab, two cardiac ambulances besides PSA that will benefit other districts also.

These two ambulances were procured from aspirational district funds for which the process was started in January. CM also launched cardiac ambulance service besides inaugurated oxygen pipeline for Rajmahal hospital.

The CM directed the district administration to launch a special vaccination drive for public representatives and their family members so that people are encouraged to take vaccines.

β€œIn the rural area there is misconception about vaccination and Covid 19 test so people avoid vaccination and Covid 19 test. But the government is watchful about the situation and we will certainly eliminate the virus. I urge all of you to take a vaccine for your own safety,” Soren said.

He directed the DC of Sahebganj to ensure people follow social distancing norms at the village market because if social distancing norms are not followed it will only increase the chance of mass infection.

The CM said that while the government is gradually increasing health infrastructure the government is very watchful to stop proliferation of Covid 19 in rural areas of Jharkhand.

β€œI am in touch with DCs of districts, officials, public representatives, public representatives and MPs and they have tendered quite a valuable suggestion on how to control the virus,” he said.
