Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav reiterated his claim that his party could win 400 seats in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and said that the SP's aim was to dislodge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state.
“Deep sense of frustration and disappointment against the BJP government prevails among all sections of society and it seems that people of Uttar Pradesh can make our party win 400 seats in the upcoming 2022 polls. Our party's aim is to dislodge the BJP government," Yadav said on his way to Lucknow after the first phase of his Yatra in Kanpur and Hamirpur.
Attacking Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the SP chief said, "Fake Baba will be removed soon."
Akhilesh sharpened the attack against BJP-led government, alleging it had cheated the public. "The BJP workers crushed and killed the farmers with their vehicles. This government is anti-farmer, manure-stealer, and is behind the rise of prices of pesticides. Under this government, inflation has skyrocketed, unemployment has peaked, corruption has increased, crime has increased, law and order has collapsed," he alleged and slammed the Yogi government after UP Law Minister Brajesh Pathak paid a visit to families of deceased BJP workers in Lakhimpur violence but skipped meeting the kin of the four deceased farmers.
“The BJP Union minister and his son are accused in the Lakhimpur incident, then how can you expect that they will visit the families of the deceased farmers? The BJP has mowed down farmers and are preparing to trample down the laws, how can you expect sympathy for farmers from them? The BJP had promised farmers to double their income but instead the inflation has doubled. The BJP government in the state has been continuously promoting ‘thoko neeti’, due to which there is an increase in criminal activities in the state and many innocent people are losing their lives,” the SP chief charged.
On the question of the scheduled inauguration of Kushinagar international airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Akhilesh Yadav said, “I have come to know that this airport is also one of the projects of the Samajwadi Party government. This is a new kind of tradition which is being practiced by the BJP where they inaugurate projects of the previous regimes and also re-inaugurate already inaugurated projects. The people of Uttar Pradesh have made up their mind to remove the BJP from power this time.”
On the issue of last-minute alliance with the Congress, the SP chief said: “The prior experience of Samajwadi Party forging alliance with big parties and all those parties with whom the party had forged alliance in the past, has not been very pleasant. Samajwadi Party is trying to bring regional and small political outfits together for the 2022 UP polls.”
