Speaker thanks all MLAs as budget session ends

Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dikshit on Thursday thanked all the members on the concluding day of the budget session.

He said that all party leaders and members participated in substantive discussions. Praising the quality of the proceedings, the speaker said that time was not only important in the proceedings, the quality of the debate and the importance of in-depth deliberations on the issues should also be evaluated. He said the biggest feature of this session was that this time the proceedings of the House were conducted in a very harmonious and smooth manner.

He said there were arguments from both sides and there were interruptions but it did not disrupt the proceedings of the House.

The speaker lauded the opposition saying that they made an outstanding contribution to the smooth conduct of the proceedings of the House.

He said that democracy was the most preferred and sought after political system in the world. "Where there are movements for the demand of democracy in many places in the world, India has an ancient tradition of democracy," he said, adding that as Uttar Pradesh was the largest state in the country, the proceedings of its assembly were watched by other state legislatures and people across the country.

He said on the question of law and order, there were several important debates in the assembly. "Of course, the opposition has its own figures and arguments against the government and the government has its own facts and figures, but both sides maintained the seriousness of the debate and dignity of the House," the speaker said.

  He said both the government and the opposition conducted in a responsible manner in debates over the issue of stray cattle and the problem of sugarcane farmers.

The speaker praised all party leaders including leader of opposition Ram Govind Chaudhary, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Lalji Verma, Indian National Congress leader Aradhana Mishra and Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party.
