Special lecture on ‘Studies in Vernacular Architecture: Glimpses from Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh' to be organised

Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal is organizing a special lecture on the occasion of World Heritage Week titled 'Himalayan Architecture: Its Grandeur and Significance'  delivered by Professors Tapan K. Chakravarty is a qualified & registered Architectural Practician, Urban Designer and a trained Educator in a special lecture on the topic 'Studies in Vernacular Architecture: Glimpses from Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh'.

Presiding over the program, the director of the museum, P.K. Mishra said that Traditional technology is all-weather and environment-friendly.

There are three main reasons for adopting modern technology apart from traditional technology 1. Source - In which wood, slat and stone which are available only in a certain area. 2. Budget - Lack of funds with them 3. Strength - To keep the house safe and secure for a long time after construction for this, by researching the architects between modern technology and traditional technology, make a bridge for the construction of traditional housing, which should protect the environment.

Welcoming and introducing Professors Tapan K. Chakravarty, Surya Kumar Pandey said that Prof. Tapan K. Chakravarty is a qualified & registered Architectural Practician, Urban Designer and a trained Educator, having an experience of over three decades.

He is alumnus of School of Planning & Architecture (New Delhi) and Nottingham- Trent University (UK). Keenly interested in Vernacular Architecture (of Western Himalayas). Traditional Settlements (Their Physical Morphology), Human Dwellings (their Spatial Typology), and Architecture Education, he has shared & presented his thoughts at several forums across the country.
