State girds loins to tackle Maoists menace

The State Government is making every effort to control extremism in Jharkhand. It is the effort of the government that people who are deviated from the mainstream, join the mainstream of society and cooperate in the State's reconstruction. For this, an initiative is being taken to make the option of surrender to the Naxalites and to make them skillful with a view to providing them a better life.

In the year 2020, the Government has also approved the proposal to give the amount of rehabilitation grant to 14 militants surrendering from various militant organisations and under the policy of rehabilitation. Three of these surrendered militants are being given `4L each, `2 lakh each to nine militants and an amount of Rs one lakh each is being given to two militants as rehabilitation grant. Of these militants, 11 are from CPI (Maoist), 2 are of the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) and a member of the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC).

In addition, more than a dozen other surrendered militants have been given an amount of two lakh each. On the other hand, the government has approved an expenditure of 34 crores in the financial year 2019-20 for the construction of an ITI in Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Simdega, Dumka, and Giridih under the skill development scheme for the youth in the militancy affected districts so that the youth can be linked with self-employment by making them skilled.

The Government announced new prize money for the arrest of banned Naxalite organisation CPI (Maoist) and six active Naxalites, who are absconding with PLFI. The proposal related to increasing the prize money by retaining the already announced prize money against 120 Naxalites was also approved. At present, the award is declared against 279 Naxalites. CM Soren has approved the proposal regarding the formation of Special Court in Jharkhand. A special court is to be set up in Ranchi under the NIA to hear cases related to terrorist / left-wing extremists. A special court of NIA will be set up on the lines of CBI.
