State logs record 47 daily Covid deaths

Even though the Covid-19 positive cases continued to decline in the State during the last 24 hours, an all-time high of 47 patients succumbed to the disease in 17 districts, surging the total death toll to 3,257, it was reported on Saturday.

Khordha district reported six casualties followed by Cuttack with five, Angul and Bargarh four each, Baleswar, Bhadrak, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Ganjam and Nayagarh three each, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Puri two each and Balangir, Jajpur, Rayagada and Sundargarh one each.

As regards positive cases, the State registered 4,852 new ones in the 30 districts and the State pool during the past 24 hours, with which the total tally increased to 8,47,313. Of the new cases, 2,765 were from quarantine and 2,087 were local contact cases.

Again, Khordha district reported the day’s maximum 649 cases followed by Cuttack with 505, Jajpur 382, Baleswar 364, Kendrapada 287, Angul 275, Puri 237, Bhadrak 222, Mayurbhanj 210, Jagatsinghpur 180, Sundargarh 157, Dhenkanal 150, Nayagarh 136, Nabarangpur 108, Rayagada 105. Keonjhar 96, Malkangiri 89, Koraput 88, Kandhamal 83, Bargarh 61, Kalahandi 60, Gajapati 48, Sambalpur 41, Ganjam 40, Subarnapur 35, Balangir 31, Nuapada 22, Deogarh 20 and Jharsuguda 16.

Besides, 98 cases were reported from the State pool.

The active cases in the State stood at 62,515 while till now 7,81,488 patients have recovered.

The State has so far tested a total of 1,25,23,241 samples, including 65,635 in the last 24 hours.
