Monday, 18 October 2021 | PNS | Dehradun

In view of the warning of heavy rainfall issued by the meteorological department, the state administration has come into an alert mode. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held talks with the chief secretary S S Sandhu and took stock of the situation. He said that the police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other personnel should be kept on high alert at the sensitive places. On a terse note the CM said that the response time should be kept minimum in the case of any emergency. Dhami said that special vigil should be kept on the Char Dham Yatra route and appealed that the tourists and Yatris should exercise caution.

The Met department has forecasted widespread and heavy rains coupled with thundershowers in Uttarakhand from October 17 to 19.

As per the weathermen all parts of the state are likely to receive moderate to heavy rains and snowfall is expected to occur in isolated places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi districts. Very heavy rains are predicted in some places of Udham SIngh Nagar and Haridwar districts on Monday.

Meanwhile the district administrations of Dehradun, Almora and Nainital have decided to close all the schools and Anganwadi centres on October 18 in view of the likelihood of adverse climatic conditions.
