State reports record 69 Covid deaths

The State on Tuesday registered 1,927 Covid-19 positive cases reported in last 24 hours in the 30 districts and the State pool, with which the total tally rose to 9,59,986.

A total of 72,061 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 2.6 per cent. Out of the new cases, 1,115 were from quarantine and 812 local contacts. Khordha district reported the day's highest 498 cases followed by Cuttack with 248, Jajpur and Puri 123 each and Baleswar 111. The districts which reported below 100 cases were: Jagatsinghpur 91, Mayurbhanj 90, Dhenkanal 75, Kendrapada 73, Nayagarh 64, Angul 55, Sambalpur 33, Keonjhar 32, Bargarh 27, Rayagada 22, Bhadrak 19, Kandhamal 18, Nabarangpur 15, Balangir 11, Ganjam 10, Jharsuguda, Subarnapur and Koraput eight each, Boudh and Kalahandi seven each, Deogarh six, Nuapada five and Gajapati four.

Besides, 110 cases were reported from the State pool. Meanwhile, an all-time single-day high of 69 patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, surging the total death toll in the State to 5,241, the Health and Family Welfare Department said.

The maximum 22 deaths were reported from Khordha district followed by Sundargarh with 10, Bargarh seven, Angul six, Keonjhar five, Kendrapada four, Baleswar three, Bhadrak, Boudh, Ganjam, Nayagarh and Puri two each and Koraput and Subarnapur one each. However, another 1,943 patients recovered on the day, increasing the total recoveries to 9,36,950.
