Story session held to share experiences

To mark International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction, a session titled stories of resilience held on Wednesday. This was held in partnership with Inter Agency Group, School of Journalism and Mass Communication and Youth4children volunteer group.

A new podcast channel was started to share audio stories of resilience from the field. Initially four stories from Shivpuri and Sheopur of youth volunteer, school child, ASHA worker and SHG member, which were documented in form of audio stories and will be shared widely. This session used the  examples of stories and broadcast mediums to share and disseminate efforts to strengthen work on disaster risk reduction. The stories were developed by Shefali Chaturvedi, broadcast professional, who shared that broadcast has a power to bring in change and support in building capacity in disaster risk reduction.

In addition Abhay Jain from Shivpuri, Ram Naresh from Sheopur, shared experience of coping up during the floods and the challenge. Umesh Medha from Jhabua and Divisha Parwar from Dhar shared their experiences during disaster COVID19, issue of migration and how they supported during COVID1 vaccination.

Anil Gulati, Communication Specialist coordinated the session and said that this is an opportunity to  acknowledge the progress being made toward reducing disaster risk, efforts of communities and youth groups to support the State.

Kamna Lad of School of Journalism and Mass Communication, DAVV Indore also expressed his views.

George Thomas of Disaster Management Institute was also present at the meeting. Around 90 NGOs who are part of Child Rights Observatory, Youth4Children group volunteers, and members of Inter Agency Group were present at the meet.
