The sweets and namkeen traders of the state have joined hands to form an organisation named Jharkhand Sweets and Namkeen Association (JSNA). The association was formed during a meeting of over 50 manufacturers on Sunday at Golmuri Club.
Sudip Mukherjee, CEO of Puja Sweets, was elected president of Jharkhand Sweets and Namkeen Association, Vikash Bajania of New Bombay Sweets was elected as general secretary, and Harshdeep Singh of New Gangour Sweets was elected as joint secretary of the association.
The association has been formed under the aegis of the Federation of Sweets and Namkeen Manufacturers (FSNM), an all-India body representing more than five lakh businesses.
Addressing the gathering, Firoz H Naqvi, founder & director at Federation of Sweets & Namkeen, said that FSNM represents the entire sweets and namkeen industry both manufacturing and allied sector. “ It is really a momentous occasion where leading sweets and namkeen manufacturers of Jharkhand have joined hands to form an association. With mutual understanding and joint promotion, FSNM will help its members to grow and adopt modern and hitech means of production and packaging,” he noted.
The director said that the sweets and namkeen is a growing industry and by adopting modern packaging and improving standards of manufacturing we have potential to grow further.
He said that FSNM been established with a vision to promote the members interest as well as to resolve the various issues which are arising in the sweets and namkeen industry. “ We want to improve the sector of the country so that it also contributes in the accelerating growth of the country along with the other sectors,” said Naqvi.
To serve its membership, FSNM disseminates information in the interest of this industry and provides a common forum of interaction by, and it provides a platform to facilitate cross-industry co-operation.
The director said that the Rs.1,00,000-crore industry, which employs nearly 10 million people directly and indirectly, has already taken a major hit due to the Covid pandemic. Most businesses are finding the going tough and are unable to cope with the challenges. The manufacturers need to join hands for mutual growth and progress.
