A 14-year-old boy bit a snake to death in retaliation after he was bitten by the venomous reptile in a remote village of Garhwa district, villagers said on Monday. Later, the boy died during treatment in a hospital.
The boy has been identified as Sonu Kumar Singh, son of Kamlesh Singh of Baitri village which comes under Khraundhi block of the district. The incident took place when Sonu was returning home after work and crossing paddy fields on foot.
After the snake bit Sonu on his leg, he caught hold of the serpent and bit it multiple times until the snake died, villagers said.
On the other hand, after getting information about the incident, instead of getting proper treatment, the family took the child to an occultist. The boy died a few hours after the snake bite due to lack of timely treatment. His last rites were performed in the village.
