Tenure of senior, junior resident doctors extended for six months

Amid rising cases of Covid-19, the Delhi Government on Saturday ordered to extend the tenure of working senior and junior resident doctors for six months. Besides this, the Government also issued a notice to engage fourth and fifth year MBBS students, interns, BDS doctors, while Medical Superintendents, CDMOs and Directors of Delhi Government hospitals are now authorised to issue oxygen concentrators to discharged covid patients.

The positivity rate recorded 10.21 percent with 7,897 positive cases and 39 deaths in 24 hours.

In a series of tweets, Health Minister Satyendra Jain said, “To combat the rising Covid cases in Delhi & meet the demand of medical personnel, the tenure of presently working SRs/JRs will be extended for 6 months. In addition, candidates will be hired for the vacant posts.”

“In order to meet the increased demand for manpower during the ongoing pandemic, all Delhi Govt hospitals are directed to engage 4th & 5th year MBBS students, interns and BDS doctors. The situation demands for all hands on deck, and we hope to fight this surge soon.” “During the surge in covid cases, swiftness of the process is a must. In view of the same, in addition to CDMOs, all Medical Superintendents & Directors of Delhi Govt hospitals dedicated for covid, are now authorised to issue oxygen concentrators to discharged covid patients,” Jain tweeted.

To deal with tough corona battle, the government has decided to use the medical staff with full potential.

In an order issued by health secretary  (special ) S M Ali sated :  “In view of rising number of COVID cases and in order to augment the medical staff and meet out the shortage of medical doctors, permission, permissions is  hereby granted to the Head of Medical Institutions, to either extend the tenure presently working SRs/JRs, whose tenure is completing soon on March 31, 202o or completing soon, for a period of six months and/ or recruit SRs/JRs against sanctioned posts from those candidates also who have completed  resident tenure as per the residency scheme of Government of India in case of non-availability of fresh candidates doctors.

“To meet the demand of increased manpower, all Directors/ Medical Superintendents/Director of all COVID hospitals of  Government of Delhi  of NCT authorised to engage 4th and 5th year of MBBS students and interns BDS pass doctors,” the order stated.

Delhi government will announce some restrictions to contain the spread of coronavirus.
