Sunday, 11 April 2021 | PNS | BRAHMAPUR

The famous Maa Budhi Thakurani Ghata Jatra was conducted on Friday night amidst strict Covid safety protocols as the entire area was under Section 144 CrPC from 6 pm of Friday to 6 am of Saturday.

The traditional ritual of the Devi’s journey from Maa Budhi Thakurani Temple to the temporary pandal at her parental house in Deshi Behera Sahi was conducted in the midnight along the way, which traditionally used to draw crowds.

Strict prohibitory orders were in force in six streets that come between the routes. As per the decision, a maximum of 25 priests, servitors and authorised persons of the Jatra management committee participated in the procession.

The goddess will stay in parental house at temporary pandal for seven days. Adequate police personnel were deployed for smooth conduct of the procession. Thakurani Jatra host P Durgaprasad Desibehera coordinated the smooth conduct of the Ghata Jatra.
