Three persons were swept away by floodwaters at Baitarini Barrage near Anandpur in Kendujhar district on Friday morning when they were collecting firewood. While Fire Services personnel managed to rescue one of them, two were still missing. The trio, residents of a village near Anandpur, had gone to collect firewood near barrage when tragedy occurred. Due to heavy downpours, the water level at barrage had risen. While collecting firewood from banks, the trio slipped and fell into waters. They were swept away in no time due to strong currents. The Fire Services personnel launched a search and rescue operation after being informed. Hours later, they managed to rescue one of them while there was no trace of other two. The searches were on.
