With the arrest of two people including a woman, the Delhi Police on Sunday busted a syndicate involved in the supply of heroin in the National Capital.
Police said that they have also recovered 100 grams of heroin, worth Rs 20 lakhs in the international market, from the accused, who were clandestinely active for contraband supply in Delhi’s Jharoda, Burari and Khajuri Khas areas.
The accused have been identified as Danish Chaudhary (23), a resident of Khajuri Khas and Sulekha (38), a resident of Jharoda Burari. Police said that Sulekha is Bad Character (BC) of Wazirabad police station and she is found previously involved in four cases of excise act. Danish is found previously involved in two cases of robbery and snatching.
According to Chinmoy Biswal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Crime Branch’s Narcotics, on December 14, specific inputs were received that Danish, indulged in supply of heroin would come at Pusta road, near old Police Booth in Jharoda, Delhi for supplying heroin to someone.
“Acting on the specific inputs, police laid a trap and apprehended Danish. Around 100 grams of heroin was seized from his possession. During interrogation, Danish told police that he procured the recovered heroin from Sulekha,” said the DCP.
“On December 15, police nabbed Sulekha and during interrogation she revealed that she was procuring heroin from one Raja. Therefore, her police custody remand was obtained and further raids were conducted in Delhi areas,” said the DCP.
“Sulekha has been supplying heroin to Danish for last 7-8 months. In her starting, she used to sell illicit liquor but to fulfill her desire to earn quick and huge money, she started selling heroin in huge quantities in Jharoda, Burari area,” said the DCP.
“She has a modus operandi that whenever she is caught by police, she becomes unconscious and mounts pressure upon the police team. She is a habitual offender of illicit liquor as well as a drug supplier. She has a history of making false complaints against police staff,” the DCP added.
“Further investigation is in progress to identify the further chain of drug trafficking in the case. Further sources are being identified and efforts are still continued to nab them,” said police.
