U'khand has achieved jab target before time: CM

Uttarakhand has achieved the task of administering its entire 18 plus eligible population with the first dose of the vaccine of Covid-19. Congratulating the people of the state on the unique feat, the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state has achieved the target before time. Addressing media persons at the state secretariat here on Sunday, the CM said the state government would start vaccinating the children below 18 years of age as soon as it receives the necessary approval. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making available the required number of vaccine doses to the state. The CM appealed that those who have received the first dose of vaccine should get the second one on time.

Dhami said that the vaccination in Uttarakhand started on January 16 and under it a total of 77,29,466 people who are above 18 years of age were to be vaccinated.

He said that first of all health care workers were vaccinated and after them frontline workers, 60 plus population, people between 45 years to 59 years and then all 18 plus population were given vaccines respectively.

Dhami informed that till October 16, 99.6 per cent health care workers, 9.2 per cent frontline workers and 96.1 per cent of the 18 plus population had been administered with the first dose of vaccine. Apart from pregnant women, contradicting beneficiaries ( those having critical illness, taking blood thinning medicines) and those who are not interested in getting vaccinated, all the eligible people have been vaccinated with the first dose in the state.

The State Health department is receiving certificates from the village Panchayats and ward members that everyone in their area has been vaccinated. In the state the vaccination drive to administer a second dose of vaccine and giving vaccine to the pregnant women, specially abled and other beneficiaries would continue unabatedly.

The Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal, health minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, additional secretary Sonika and director general state health service Dr Tripti Bahuguna were present on the occasion.
