UPES organises 19th convocation ceremony

UPES, a multidisciplinary university organised its 19th convocation at the Bidholi campus on Friday in which a total of 3873 students from five schools of the university were conferred degrees.

Those who received degrees included 52 PhD, 439 post-graduate (regular), 564 post-graduate (CCE) - which comprised MBA, M Tech, MA, MSc, LLM and Des - and 2781 graduate (regular) and 37 graduate (CCE) scholars.

Along with the degrees 11 ‘Gold Medals’ (8 Regular + 3 institutional Medal), 42 ‘Silver Medals’(35 Regular, seven silver plates for CCE) and 41 ‘Letter of Appreciation’ were awarded to the students during the ceremony.

This year the university also launched its first ever “Excellence Awards of UPES” for all existing students who have exhibited exemplary performance with their dedication and hard work. Students were conferred excellence awards under categories, Spirit of UPES, Dean’s List, Excellence in Academics, Excellence in Service and Excellence in Extra Curricular. The Vice Chancellor (VC) of University presented ‘'Vice Chancellor's Report 2020-21', taking audience through the journey of UPES in the last one year.

Speaking on the occasion Rai said, “We are proud of  accomplishments of the graduating batch and confident that with their knowledge, skills and values they will create better workplaces and communities; lead meaningful professional and personal lives. Year 2021 has been a milestone year for UPES as it has been ranked amongst the top 100 institutions in India by NIRF.  In our efforts towards becoming a truly multi-disciplinary university we will soon be launching the School of Liberal Studies. Liberal studies programs will provide students with the tools and skills to be critical and creative thinkers, researchers, and communicators in almost any field.”

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Registrar UPES, Veena Dutta who extended her gratitude to all students, dignitaries and stakeholders for their continuous support. The convocation ended with Chancellor of UPES S J Chopra declaring the ceremony closed.
