The ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh Mashaal’ victory flame commemorating India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war on Tuesday reached Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham district from Madhya Pradesh to a warm welcome.
The victory flame was received by Lt Col Manoj Kumar Jha of Chhattisgarh and Odisha Sub Area (COSA) HQ with full military honours, a Press Information Bureau (PIB) official said.
The flame received a grand reception at the Chilpi police station and was placed on a decorated pedestal. Chilpi lies around 160 km away from Raipur.
The flame was later kept for everyone to pay their respects while a military band played patriotic tunes.
The flame will reach Raipur on October 13 and the Governor will receive it at a function to be held at Raj Bhavan. The 1971 War Veterans will be felicitated.
The victory flame will be in the state till October 19.
