Withdraw false police cases against farmers’ leaders, demands AAP

Friday, 29 January 2021 | PNS | Chandigarh

Strongly condemning the false police cases registered against the farmers over the actions taken by “RSS and BJP agents” to discredit the farmers’ movement at the Red Fort on January 26, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said that Delhi Police should have immediately arrested and prosecuted BJP agent Deep Sidhu, but became active in defaming the peaceful agitators.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government’s nefarious moves, in collaboration with RSS, BJP, and central agencies, to put an end to the farmers’ movement have embarrassed the country worldwide today,” said AAP’s senior leader and the Leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Harpal Singh Cheema.

Cheema said that the farmers, who had been peacefully agitating in a democratic manner for the last several months, had raised the head of our democratic country, “but the poor thinking of the BJP has done great damage to the democracy of the country through its men”.

“By registering false cases against those farmer leaders, who were not involved in this incident, the police has proved that it all happened only under one politics,” he added.

Cheema said that the Delhi Police should have immediately arrested and prosecuted BJP agent Deep Sidhu, but became active in defaming the peaceful agitators. “The farmer leaders have been saying for a long time that Deep Sidhu is an agent of BJP and wanted to give a wrong colour to the movement,” he added.

In connection with the incident at Red Fort, Deep Sidhu himself went live on social media giving all evidence, but the Modi Government at the Centre has let go of its favourite, which casts doubt on the intentions of the Delhi Police, said Cheema.

AAP leader further said that different kinds of false rumours were being spread to discredit the farmers’ movement and appealed to the people of Punjab and the country’s citizens not to pay attention to such rumours.

“The issue would be raised vigorously by the party’s state president and MP Bhagwant Mann in the upcoming Parliament session,” said Cheema demanding that the Centre should immediately repeal the black laws by accepting the demands of the farmers instead of suppressing the agitation in a dictatorial manner.

DUBBING JAN 26 VIOLENCE A CONSPIRACY, SAD DEMANDS INQUIRY

Describing the violence during the farmers’ tractor march on Republic Day (Tuesday) as a conspiracy, the Shiromani Akali Dal on Thursday demanded an inquiry into the incident.  Condemning the violence in Delhi on January 26, the former Minister said that this incident should not be used as an excuse to abandon the genuine demands of the farmers, who have been protesting at border points in Delhi for over two months.

Slamming the Centre, Majithia pointed out that the Government agencies did not deem it fit to act immediately against the people who had incited violence and it was bizarre that they were allowed to move towards the Red Fort.  “It is even more bizarre that the same persons were given a free run to enter the Red Fort which is otherwise impossible to even approach due to heavy security deployment. The fact that the Government did not even react to the developments yesterday had made it clear that the acts of violence were part of a deep-rooted conspiracy,” he said.

Making it clear that a deep-rooted conspiracy was responsible for the unfortunate events which occurred on Republic Day, Majithia said that it was now clear that few backstabbers made a deal with central agencies to defame the Kisan Andolan.  “It is because of this that the police force facilitated entry of people into a heavily guarded area like the Red Fort”.  He said the media as well as farmer organizations had exposed the backstabbers and that people would never forgive them for their acts. He also asserted that farmers on their part were patriotic and peace loving and would never do anything to harm the nation.
