Witness to gram pradhan’s murder gunned down

A witness to the murder of a former Gram Pradhan was shot dead by gunmen in Chiraiyyakot area of Mau triggering protests, stone pelting and torching of police vehiclesby the victim’s kin and friends on Tuesday evening.

As per reports, former Gram Pradhan Munna Bagi was shot dead in front of Panchayat Bhawan in Asalpur village of Chiraiyakot area last year. His nephew, Arvind Ram was an eyewitness to the murderous attack. On Tuesday evening, while Arvind was returning home, he was accosted by unidentified gunmen and shot dead.

Enraged with the killing, angry villagers pelted stones at police vehicles that reached the scene of crime after the incident and later torched them. It was suspected that Arvind was murdered to stop him from testifying in the murder trial at the court. A case registered and the police were on the lookout for suspects.

Meanwhile in Auraiya, a woman was murdered while she had gone out to relieve herself on Wednesday morning.

Sarita Dohre of Lalpur locality went out of the house and when she did not return for an inordinate time, her husband looked for her and inquired from the locals. A little away from her home, some locals spotted her body lying in a pool of blood. Unknown miscreants had brutally hit her with a blunt object as a result of which she succumbed. A case was registered in this connection, the body was sent autopsy and investigations were on.
