The Delhi Police has arrested a 35-year-old woman for killing her husband for allegedly thrashing and abusing her infront of her children in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri area.
Police said that the accused, Sarita Devi, strangulated her 38-year-old husband Sikandar Sahni, with a saree and later took him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
According to Atul Kumar Thakur, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South district, yhe woman told police that her husband was addicted to alcohol despite being a chronic tuberculosis patient.
“ He did not do any work and used to beat her in front of her children daily. During enquiry, police found that the man was brought to the Safdarjung hospital by his wife and was declared brought dead. During the post-mortem, doctor observed multiple ligature marks on his neck and prima facie, it was revealed that Sahni was murdered,” said the DCP.
“ The crime team and Forensic Science Laboratory team also visited the spot and collected evidence. A case of murder was registered and the accused woman was arrested in connection with the killing,” said the DCP.
“ During interrogation, she disclosed that her husband was an alcohol addict despite being a chronic tuberculosis patient and was not doing any work. He used to allegedly beat and abuse her daily in front of her children.So, she strangulated him with a saree,” he said.
Further investigation of the case is underway, police said.
