The Crime Branch, which is investigating at the Chandipur DRDO wing in Baleswar district, on Saturday made some more revelations about the operative who allegedly honey-trapped the five accused.
The Crime Branch said the suspected woman handler in the espionage racket had promised to visit the residence of one of the accused in Chandipur.
Crime Branch ADG Sanjeeb Panda said the suspected woman operative had given marriage proposals to two of the arrested DRDO staffs and promised to visit the house of another accused in Chandipur.
“As per our investigation so far, the suspect woman had created seven profiles on Facebook by posting different display picture (DPs) and identities and contacted the accused,” Panda said.
“She used a UK SIM card and chatted with the accused through various social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. She used to speak in Hindi and also made video calls to two accused,” Panda said.
The ADG said further that investigation is underway to ascertain details of the suspect and the UK phone number she used.
“We are carrying out further investigation to ascertain her real identity and the place she belongs to,” the ADG said.
“Our efforts are also ongoing to find out details of the bank account from which money was transferred to the bank account of one of the accused. Besides, we are inquiring from what are the sources from which they received money,” he added.
The investigating agency had taken the five accused on a seven-day remand for further interrogation and produced them in a court on Friday after their remand period ended. The Crime Branch has not sought further remand of the accused.
