The State Women Congress workers staged a sit-in protest on Sunday at Albert Ekka Chowk in the State Capital to protest against the rise in the price of petrol and LPG cylinders and during the protest they kindled a wooden stove and cooked bread on the spot.

Jharkhand Mahila Congress Chief Gunjan Singh said that the issue of farmers, safety of women, inflation or employment, the Central Government has failed on all points. The women will not sit down silently because it is a matter of their self respect and kitchen budget also.

Attacking the Central Government for failing in controlling the inflation, Singh said that one can see that the peasant brothers were constantly being tortured after that the inflation is tormenting people's life badly. "Gas cylinder prices increased, petrol prices were increased. If women are working somewhere, they are mostly travelling by scooty. Now how will they go to work? The Central Government had said that the Ujjwala gas scheme is being given in respect of the women. Today it has become proof that it has become a toy only. All of us will return gas cylinders to Modi ji. At the same time, the Women Congress will also work to give bangles," she added.

The party's women wing State Chief said that cooking food on gas today one has to think twice because of he rising price of LPG. "It is better that we will use wood and cow dung. Today we are on the road. Now there is no talk of employment anywhere. The only thing is to please Ambani and Adani," she added.

Only one day earlier on Saturday Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) Chief, Rameshwar Oraon had said while protesting against rising inflation that the prices of petroleum products would come down for two-three months due to the announcement of assembly election program for five states including West Bengal, Assam and Kerala. "There is an atmosphere of public anger against rising inflation in the whole country. After the election, the price will increase again," he added. The party had held a sit-in protest in front of Raj Bhawan in the State Capital.
