XISS inks MoU with PHIA Foundation for gender equality

Thursday, 25 November 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, and Partnering Hope Into Action (PHIA) Foundation, Ranchi, have signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for a partnership of one year for cooperation in areas of gender equality and engaging students as Change Makers.

This partnership is in time to amplify the involvement of the budding graduates passing out from XISS to become Changer Maker of this initiative, where they become individuals who are willing to delve deeper and critically question beliefs and values which perpetuates inequality. Students/ Change Makers will start meaningful and engaging conversation to bring about a change in self and others.

Change Makers will also act as Campaign Ambassadors in the educational Institutes of the state and will be felicitated with Change Maker certification. As a knowledge partner, PHIA Foundation will help in organizing workshops/thought-shops and awareness programs on gender issues for the students. The partnership also will help in creating a safe space (online or offline) like Gender Adda to encourage students to share their experience, question, debate, interact and challenge current gender stereotypes in society and particularly in their surroundings.

Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur, Director, XISS, Ranchi; Johnson Topno, Regional Head of Programme, PHIA Foundation; Dr Raj Shree Verma, Assistant Professor, XISS; Aayurshi Sahay, Brand Officer, XISS; Ranjan, Manager, Partnerships and Shristi Shankar, PHIA Foundation were present during the signing of the MoU.

Dr Kujur said, “XISS is elated on this collaboration with PHIA Foundation with a vision to effectively increase student participation in areas of gender equality as they will train to become Change Makers of the society. Starting a dialogue on gender equality and student sharing their views, organising debate and interacting on such important issue, I am sure will widen their horizon as they are ready to step into the professional world.  I am hopeful that this association will immensely benefit the student’s community in enhancing their practical skills and knowledge.”

“The partnership between XISS and PHIA aims at co-creating a facilitative platform where young leaders of tomorrow can get an immersive experience to understand the nuances around the issue of gender through the lens of masculinity and help create a new narrative around gender justice. Under this partnership, PHIA will train XISS students to become ChangeMakers where they shall come out with creative content to reach out to masses and create awareness on the issue,” highlighted Ranjan, Manager, Partnerships, PHIA.
