Yogi: SP compromised with ethics of governance, promoted organised crime

Friday, 17 December 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tore into the Samajwadi Party, accusing it of compromising with all standards and ethics of governance and promoting organised crime for the benefit of one particular family.

On the penultimate day of the last session of the 17th UP Assembly, Yogi also presented the report card of his government and said that he got only three and a half years to perform as 20 months were lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state government tabled the supplementary budget for the 2021-22 fiscal and the vote on account for the first four months of 2022-23 fiscal in the assembly on Thursday.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party government has delivered to the people as per the promises it had made. Whether our government worked for the poor or not is the manifested by our performance during the last five years. We want to know as to why during the previous Samajwadi Party regimes the poor were deprived of the benefits of welfare schemes like houses to 45 lakh poor families, toilets to 2.61 crore families, free power connection to 2.94 crore families, health insurance cover of Rs 5 Lakh to 10 crore people and benefit of Kisan Samman Nidhi to 2.54 crore farmer,” the chief minister said in the assembly on Thursday.

“The reason is simple. The BJP government sincerely pursued the policy of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’. During the Samajwadi Party rule, a ‘buggie’ was imported from England for celebrating the birthday of SP patron and taxpayers' money was spent on Saifai festival. On the contrary, in the present regime, Prime Minister  Narendra Modi could be seen inspecting the development works for the welfare of common people in Varanasi well past midnight,” Yogi said.

Launching a stinging attack on the Samajwadi Party, the chief minister further said, “Samajwad is the biggest superstition of modern era and is present amidst us in many shades and colours like parivarvadi samajwaad, mafiawadi samajwad, dangawadi samajwad and aatankwadi samajwadi. The people of UP have realised that Samajwadi is `red alert’ and it’s right time to get rid of this menace.”

Quoting spiritual Guru Acharya Rajneesh, Yogi said, “Samajwad turns a rich man to poor, a poor into slave, cheats into intellectuals and for its own petty interest it makes its leaders powerful. India needs only Ram Rajya, neither socialism nor communism as only Ram Rajya is sarvkalik, sarvdeshik and eternal.”

Defending the renaming of districts and accusing Samajwadi Party of insulting Dr BR Ambedkar and Bahujan Samaj Party founder Kanshiram, the chief minister said, “Samajwadi Party insulted Baba Saheb Ambedkar and BSP founder Kanshiram by changing the names of institutions named after the two great ions of India. Samajwadi Party insulted Sardar Patel, the unifier of India, and eulogised mass murderer Jinnah who instigated partition. Insulting symbols of Sanatan dharma and patronising terrorists has been the hallmark of Samajwadi Party. It’s a matter of pride for us that we got the opportunity to erase the symbols of Islamic slavery and change the name of Faizabad to Ayodhya and Allahabad to Prayagraj,” Yogi said.

Asserting that shilanyas of the Ram temple at Ayodhya was a matter of pride for all, the chief minister said, “When Hindu identity has asserted itself then all political parties are claiming the cultural and spiritual heritage of Bhagwan Ram but they shied away from welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he laid the foundation stone of Ram temple at Ayodhya. All political parties should have warmly welcomed the prime minister on August 5, 2019 when he laid the foundation stone of Ram temple. After all the laying of the foundation stone of the temple marked erasing of the symbol of slavery and construction of a new symbol of national pride and identity,” the chief minister argued.

Referring to the links of Samajwadi Party with criminals, Yogi said, “The exasperation of SP is visible when the bulldozers clear public land occupied by the mafia. But this party remains silent on the suicide by farmers, death of children due to encephalitis and injustice against the poor and disadvantaged sections of society.”

Taking a jibe at SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, the chief minister said, “Our government respects elderly people and does not throw or discard them. Our government has increased the old age pension from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 per month.”

In January, 2017, Akhilesh had toppled his father Mulayam Singh Yadav from the top post of president of Samajwadi Party and took over the mantle.

Lauding the role of the frontline workers in fighting COVID-19 pandemic, Yogi said, “The  primary health workers, ASHA bahus, Anganwadi workers, village chowkidar, shiksha mitras, sanitation workers played a stellar role in fighting the pandemic and the state government would soon announce a hike in their emoluments and other facilities.’’
