Aishbagh police have arrested a youth under Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Ordinance (2020) for forcing a girl to embrace Islam and had allegedly hit the girl on her refusal.
The accused identified as Asad who posed as Ashu (25) and developed friendship with the victim.
The two developed relationship still victim remained unaware of the fact that the victim was Muslim and concealed his identity.
The girl came to know about the religion of the accused after she found that accused went to offer Namaz at a Mosque in the month of March on his birthday last year and after which she started to remain away from the accused but the accused continued to harass her and pressurise her for marriage.
SHO Ashoka Garden police Alok Shrivastava confirmed that the girl was hit and forced to embrace religion of the accused which she refused, accused work at a electrical shop and details regarding other details are under investigation.
On January 11, 2021, accused forced victim to change his religion to Islam and when she refused accused broke her mobile phone.
In the night on Tuesday accused shared a photograph of a girl which he claimed to be his new Hindu girlfriend and challenged victim that no one could harm her.
The victim shared details with her friends and later complaint was lodged with the Aishbagh police.
Based on the details police have registered a case under sections 3 and 5 of Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Ordinance (2020) and started further investigation.
