BSF rolls out Maitri Cycle Rally

Bangladesh is organising the birth centenary celebrations of "Father of the Nation" Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rehman, named as "Mujib Borsho", w.e.f 17th March 2020 to 16 December 2021.

In India too, many programs are being organized to commemorate the birth centenary of the Bangabandhu. In the series of these programs, Border Security Force is organising "Maitri Cycle Rally". This 'Maitri Cycle Rally' will begin on 10th January, 2021 from Border Out Post Panitar (Main Pillar-1), 153 Battalion, Border Security Force, 24 North Parganas District and after covering of total distance of 4,097 Kms along the border, the rally will end on 17th March, 2021, at Border Out Post Silkor, 60 Battalion, Mizoram Frontier. 13 Bicycle riders would be participating im this Cycle Rally. This rally will be completed in 66 days and it will be passing through the states viz. West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya and Mizoram along the Indo- Bangladesh border covering distance of 4,097 Kms.

This Cycle Rally will be flagged off from Border Out Post Panitar, at 1100 hours, by General Shankar Rai Chaudhary PVSM, AVSM, (Retd) on 10th January, 2021, in the presence of other dignitaries including senior officers of Border Security Forces & Border Guard Bangladesh and local people. This rally will cover distance of 90- 100 Km each day and will have nighthalts at the Border Posts along the International Boundary. Various programs will be organized by the Border Security Force at various Border Posts enroute, which will involve local government officials and people from the border areas who will encourage the riders.

On 11th January 2021, a programe will be held at Petrapole to welcome this bicycle rally, in which Sh S. Ramakrishnan, IPS, ADG (Police) Retd, will be the Chief Guest. The event will be attended by Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh, IPS, Additional Director General, Eastern Command, Officers of Border Security Force & Border Guard Bangladesh and local people. This cycle rally will culminate on 17th March 2021, at Border Out Post Silkor, Mizoram.

The objective of this bicycle rally is to create sense of security among the people living on the border, to enhance the friendship between Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh, to create awareness amongst the border population, to stop trans-border crimes, no use of drugs and to stop cattle smuggling on the border. The Border Security Force is determined to make this cycle rally a success.
