The Baloch Liberation Army has destroyed the statue of Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah at the Marine Drive in Gwadar Port.
The Baloch Liberation Army has taken responsibility for the blast that destroyed the statue in standing position.
The blast was carried out after planting explosives on the statue and casualties, if any, could not be ascertained immediately. The move comes close on the heels of the Baloch insurgents attacking a Pakistani Rangers post in restive Balochistan. The Baloch insurgents had on Thursday abducted 15 personnel of the Pak Rangers after the attack on the outpost. The Baloch Liberation Army is spearheading the Baloch insurgency in Balochistan and often targets Pakistani Army, Pak Rangers and police personnel deployed in the area.
The Balochs are also opposed to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a China-led infrastructure project under the Belt and Road Initiative.
