Grants & incubation for Entrepreneurship

The  Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, is taking several steps to encourage start-up and entrepreneurial activities. Aimed to boost industrial interactions and start-up activities, Research and Industrial Conclave is being organised from January 20-23, 2022.

Technology incubation centre at the campus allows virtual incubation, and student start-ups are permitted. New grants and incubation are being provided by IIT Guwahati Technology Innovation and Development Foundation.

Speaking on the significance of the initiatives, Professor TG Sitharam, director IIT Guwahati said; “As stated by our Prime Minister we are in the golden era of start-up, being one of the leading institute for research and innovation, IIT Guwahati wishes to contribute to create start-up friendly ecosystem. I invite the entrepreneurs to join us where we provide not only the technical mentorship but also access to our resources and opportunities to work with our faculties and students to develop new technologies.”

The start-up can apply through email inchargetic@iitg.ac.in. It will be evaluated by a committee. Based on its recommendation of council of management of TIC will approve the start-ups for incubation.

Climate Change Innovation award for start-ups

The The Indian Institute of Management Udaipur announced Climate Change Innovation Grant for eligible start-ups in association with Meity Startup Hub and corporate partner Transworld Group. The grant focuses on supporting early-stage climate tech ventures whose products or services are explicitly focused on reducing GHG emissions or addressing the impacts of global warming.

The participating start-ups will receive the opportunity to brainstorm and validate solutions with corporate partner Transworld Group, get tailored training and support, learn and share in a community of like-minded founders in a collaborative environment, incubation, and co-working space at the incubation centre, and also an opportunity to pitch for follow-on funding under other programs of the incubation centre.

Kannan Soundararajan, CEO, Incubation Centre, IIM Udaipur said, “We want to provide you and your startup with state-of-the-art mentoring and online training, as well as access to financial support and networking opportunities. The bottom line is success, both for you and your start-up and for the environment with tangible climate solutions.”

Each focus area will target ill-effects of the above challenges and will deep-dive into solutions.

Hiring of highly skilled tech professionals

The Aarna Network is planning to expand its engineering team in India by hiring technology professionals in cutting edge technologies from across the country. The additional technological capabilities will help expand company portfolio.

Two new executive education programmes

The Anant Centre for Sustainability launched two new executive education programmes delivered via a blended learning model — a one-week certificate course in Designing Affordable Living and a one year, Entrepreneurs in Residence programme. Interested candidates can enroll in both programmes until February 10, 2022.

The designing affordable living course will strt on March 4, 2022 and the other in February. The course provides 30 students with the ability to build a business that innovates, creates, and sells affordable living products.

The course offers knowledge about various materials used for designing affordable living products, with a deep dive into the properties of laminated corrugated cardboard, a highly affordable material. By the end of the course, students shall build the prototypes of the products, enhancing learning by integrating theory and practice.

GITAM extends ISDC partnership

The GITAM (Deemed-to-be-University) extended its International Skill Development Corporation partnership to its Bengaluru campus by signing a Memorandum of Understanding.

The aim is to provide degree programmes integrated with global qualifications.

The MoU allows students access to in-depth understanding of industry-oriented finance and analytical tools. 

Math++ Dots learning course

A US-based ed-tech start-up  has created a new generation unique program called math++ that blends Math with Data and AI thinking, to empower students to meet the demands of the rapidly advancing digital world.

The programme  is designed for Classes I to IV. Designed by global social visionaries with over 20 years of experience in Data and AI, the programme is backed by inputs and guidance from experienced leaders globally.
